Sapa homestay with local ethnic family

Night 1. 19.00 car picks up at hotel in Hanoi and transfer to the train station to get on the night train to Lao Cai. Spend the night on train in a deluxe cabin (shared 4 berths/cabin, air-conditioned)

Day 1. Lao Cai – Sapa – Homestay in Ban Ho village (B, L, D)

Early arrive in Lao Cai, a car ride uphill to Sapa takes a little over an hour, giving you a glimpse of the stunning vistas and impressive rice terraces. Breakfast at a local restaurant, then drive (30 minutes) to the Golden Stream Valley, stopping at Ta Van village. Walk down through the village from the main road and start trekking to Giang Ta Chai village. The trekking route offers some challenge as you balance on the rice terraces and a small trail on the steep mountain side. The vegetation is dense as the trail leads up to a peaceful village perched on the Hoang Lien mountainside. Head downhill and relax by a local stream for a picnic lunch. In the afternoon, trek about 1.5 hours uphill before descending down to the quaint Tay hill tribe village of Ban Ho. Dinner and overnight in with a local family.

Day 2. Sapa trekking – train back Hanoi (B, L, D)

After breakfast, you will start the day with an easy trek on dirt paths. Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the valley with its traditional stilt houses and rice terraces. Make your way along a stream to cross a hanging bridge before arriving in Nam Tong Village. In this picturesque valley, you’ll pass some remote villages of the Red Dzao ethnic minority communities set amongst the rice and corn fields. After a picnic lunch, walk back to the meeting point where our driver is waiting to take you back to Sapa for a shower.

Leave Sapa for Lao Cai for night train back to Hanoi

Arrive back in Hanoi early following day – Tour ends at Hanoi Railway Station.

Trip note:

Home stay – the unique experience: On this trekking tour, you will need to hike five or six hours per day along a scenic valley to reach a small cluster of ethnic minority villages located in remote area around Sapa. Home stay is really highlights of tour that give you unique experience to discover life and culture of ethnic minorities. Home stay in villages is simple in term of bedding condition and toilet, clean and located beside a spring with a good view. We will sleep on beds with mattress, clean sheet, pillows and mosquito nets. Toilet is usually flush-style. The hosts are very friendly and eager to please. Usually, the host family or guide will cook meals for you, but will not join in out of respect for the guests. If you prefer to them to eat with you, you need to ask the guide in advance to make the arrangements

Food: All meals which are indicated in the itinerary are included and served at restaurant. Picnic lunch would be prepared by a local restaurant. The emphasis will be on healthy and nutritious fresh local produce. Please inform us if you have any special dietary requirement.

What to bring: Trekking boot, sun block, hat, anti-insect repellent, sunglasses, rain coat, toiletries, original passport
