Travel Style: Classic Tours, Special Interests
Trip length: Day Tour
Escape the hustle of Hanoi for a day and step into one of Vietnam’s oldest and best-preserved rural villages — Duong Lam Ancient Village.
Just 45 km west of the capital, this centuries-old settlement is a living museum of traditional Vietnamese village life, with original laterite-brick houses, narrow alleys shaded by banyan trees, communal wells, and peaceful rice paddies. During the tour, you’ll walk through Duong Lam’s historical hamlets, visit ancient family homes, stop at spiritual landmarks such as Mong Phu communal house, Mia Pagoda, and the temples of Kings Phung Hung and Ngo Quyen — both born here. With a relaxed pace, hands-on interaction with village life, and plenty of photo opportunities, this is a calm but rich cultural journey into Vietnam’s rural roots.

- Dress modestly when visiting pagodas and temples (no shorts above the knee, no sleeveless tops).
- Duong Lam is quieter on weekdays; weekends or holidays bring more local visitors, so if peace and quiet matter, weekdays are better.
